How Someone's DNa can cause them to commit murder
f MRI Scans
Serial killers and murderers have fMRI scans that are nearly identical to each other but are not at all similar to the average person. James Fallon, a neuroscientist, conducted a research project that studied the brains of serial killers. He would show a video that was somewhat violent and compare the findings from those subjects to the everyday person, including all of the members of his family. While looking through his families results he found that his brain resembled that of a serial killer or psychopath.
The similarities are in certain areas of the frontal and temporal lobes that are linked to self-control, empathy, and morality. They were similar because while the serial killers, psychopaths, and James watched the violent video these lobes were not stimulated, whereas the “normal brains” were completely stimulated. This is because of a particular allele that is meant for transporting a serotonin transporter, which is present in his (James’s) brain, is believed to be linked for putting him at risk for psychopathic tendencies. And under further research has shown that this defect can affect the development of a cortex in the brain, which has low stimulation or activity in psychopaths brains. This can be caused by genetics or traumatic events in the person’s childhood. (James's finding were supported by the his peers at the University of California).
